Proposed Revised Flood Maps for Erie County, Ohio
90 Day Appeal Period Expires January 16, 2014

The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has issued preliminary revised Flood Insurance Rate maps for Erie County, Ohio.  These flood hazard determinations include changes to the Special Flood Hazard Area boundaries.  Your input is needed on the proposed flood hazard determinations shown on the preliminary FIRM.  These flood hazard determinations are the basis for the floodplain management measures in Erie County and are needed to remain qualified for participation in the National Flood Insurance Program.  However, before these determinations are effective for floodplain management purposes, you will be provided an opportunity to appeal the proposed changes.

To review the proposed maps please contact the Erie Regional Planning Commission Floodplain Team at (419) 627-7524.  The 90 day appeal period expires January 16, 2014 so don’t delay.  You will need detailed technical data to appeal.

For information on the statutory 90-day period provided for appeals, as well as a complete listing of the communities affected and the locations where copies of the FIRM are available for review, please visit FEMA’s website at http://www.floodmaps.fema.gov/fhm/scripts/bfe_main.asp, or call the FEMA Map Information eXchange (FMIX) toll free at 1-877-FEMA MAP (1-877-336-2627).
