County Appoints New EMA Director

The Board of Erie County Commissioners and the County Administrator are pleased to announce the appointment of Timothy G. Jonovich as the Director of the Emergency Management Agency effective October 31, 2011 replacing William L. Walker who retired August 12, 2011.

 Tim Jonovich is currently employed as the Director of the Williams County Emergency Management Agency / E–911 Communications Center and as a Firefighter / EMT with the City of Bryan Fire Department. His job responsibilities as Director include Emergency Operations Center (EOC) operations, homeland security, E-911 GIS, grants, budgets, emergency plans, communications center operations, training, drills, and Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).

Mr. Jonovich received his Bachelors Degree in Emergency Management with a minor in Criminal Justice and his Associates Degree in Fire Protection from the University of Akron. Further, he is a graduate of Chardon High School in Geauga County.  Mr. Jonovich has completed his Ohio Emergency Management Agency (OEMA) professional development series NIMS ICS300 and ICS 400 certification.

Mr. Jonovich will begin his duties with Erie County on October 31st at the hourly rate of $24.04.  His office is located at the Erie County Jail (lower level), 2800 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky and the office phone number is 419-627-7617.

The County Commissioners and Administrator believe that Tim has the necessary knowledge and management skills to provide a high level of emergency management, E-911 and homeland security services to the citizens of Erie County.
