County Expenses $500,000 Below Budget

At the July 21 commission meeting, Finance Director Pete Daniel reported that 2011 expenses to date are $500,000 below budget.  He praised Elected Officials, department heads and managers for continuing to work hard at eliminating unnecessary costs.

Since 2009, county budgets have been reduced from approximately $31,000,000 annually to $25,000,000.  The majority of these savings have been achieved by reducing the cost of services and supplies purchased by the county.  Staffs have been reduced as well, primarily through early retirement packages.
