Participate in 2020 LUCA Operation

Posted on April 17, 2017

Robert Frost once wrote that time and tide wait for no one and that is certainly true as the next decennial census is fast approaching.  In anticipation of the 2020 census the US Census Bureau is launching LUCA or the Local Update of Census Addresses Operation.

What Is LUCA?

The Local Update of Census Addresses Operation (LUCA) is a voluntary decennial census operation. LUCA is the only opportunity prior to the 2020 Census for tribal, state, and local governments to review and update the U.S. Census Bureau’s residential address list for their jurisdiction. The Census Bureau relies on a complete and accurate address list to reach every living quarters and associated population for inclusion in the census.

The accuracy and completeness of the address list is critical to the accuracy and completeness of the decennial census. Participating in LUCA can help ensure an accurate census for your community.

Representatives from the US Census Bureau will be on hand this week to discuss the importance of the LUCA.  Please see the LUCA flyer for time and location of this important event.
