Pursuant to Senate Bill 263, the Erie County Clerk of Courts and all General Division Courts of Erie County will be removed from the notary process after September 19, 2019. Erie County's last testing date before the new law takes effect is August 30, 2019. No new notary applications will be given after this date. Renewal applications may be submitted to the Common Pleas Court until 12:00 p.m. September 19, 2019. Thereafter, all testing requirements shall be processed in accordance with the new legislation and will be handled by the Secretary of State.
The Secretary of State will certify all notary records starting September 20, 2019. All notary applicants having questions about the new legislation should contact the Secretary of State's website for notary information.www.OhioSecretaryofState
DATES TO REMEMBER
1. August 30, 2019: Last testing date for notary test at the Erie County Courthouse; no new notary applications given after this date.
2. September 19, 2019: Renewal applications may be submitted to

notary process after this date.
3. September 20, 2019: The
Secretary of State will certify all notary records beginning this date.
