General Information

Each county has a Court of Common Pleas held by one or more judges. Each judge must be an attorney at law in the state of Ohio for at least six years preceding their appointment or commencement of their term as judge. Each judge shall be elected for a six-year term immediately preceding the year in which the term commences.

Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code (ORC 2301.02) the number of judges for the Court of Common Pleas, the time for the next election of the judges, and date term of office begins for Erie County shall be as follows:

There will be four judges, one to be elected in 1956, term to begin January 1, 1957, the second to be elected in 1970, term to begin January 2, 1971, the third to be elected in 2004, term to begin January 2, 2005, and the fourth to be elected in 2008, term to begin February 9, 2009.
