Gas Aggregation Program

Attention Residents:

You are likely aware by now of the County's natural gas aggregation supplier, Volunteer Energy Services, Inc. (VESI), filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy towards the end of March.  While this indicates VESI intends to return all of its customers to the Columbia Gas default supply service option, there will be no interruption in your gas flow.  Over the past few weeks, the County has been working to obtain alternative supplier pricing options for the County's program.  Natural gas futures prices, which trade publicly on an open market and change by the second, recently hit 14-year highs, indicating alternative supplier pricing is not currently advantageous.  While the County will continue to evaluate ever-changing market conditions, we recommend you remain on Columbia Gas supply for your lower-consumption summer billing months until a new program rate is negotiated.  The County will negotiate a new rate prior to the commencement of the next winter heating season.   If you have further questions regarding this issue, please contact Valerie with Palmer Energy Company at 419-539-9180 ext. 300 or 1-877-726-0214.  Thank you.
