Where can I find information about current and future bids?
All of our bids are advertised in the Sandusky Register and are
posted on bulletin boards at the Erie County Office Building, 247
Columbus Avenue, and at the Erie County Courthouse, 323 Columbus Avenue,
Sandusky, OH 44870. You may also view the bid opening dates online.
What dollar amounts require competitive bidding?
All orders that exceed $50,000 must be placed for bid by the County.
Where can I acquire bid specifications and blueprints?
Bid specs and blueprints are held in the office of the Erie County Finance Department, 2900 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870.
Are there any fees associated with bid specs and blueprints?
Not all bids require you to pay a fee for the specs. Any fees for the specs are determined at the time of the bidding.
Do I need to respond to all bid item requests?
Normally, you should provide us with either a positive or negative response for a bid, but if you choose not to respond at all, it will be interpreted as a “negative” response.
Do I need to attend pre-bid meetings?
Some pre-bid meetings are mandatory, and in these cases you must
attend if you wish to place a bid. If a pre-bid is not mandatory, you
are not required to attend, although the pre-bid meeting may provide you
with additional useful information about the project up for bid.
Should I attend the bid opening?
Attendance is not required at bid openings, but the bid opening will
provide you with information about other bidders if you do attend.
What determines who wins the bid award?
The winning bidder will be the one with the combination of lowest and best bid.
