The Erie County Family and Children First Council is holding a series of workshops titled “Getting Ahead” beginning September 10th. The workshops will be available to adults who are already using local services but are in need of additional knowledge and support to move out of the cycle of poverty. Participants will engage in eight weeks of workshops where they will learn their strengths, build a plan to reach their goals, and learn skills to become financially secure. This year marks the seventh time the “Getting Ahead” workshop series has been offered in Erie County with the last series having occurred five years ago, in 2019. New Jerusalem Church is serving as the host of the workshops, which will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays until November 7th. Transportation and childcare during class can be arranged for participants. Dinner and stipends for participation are included.
