The Prosecuting Attorney represents the State of Ohio by inquiring into and prosecuting felony crimes committed by adults and all offenses committed by juveniles. This division is most commonly associated with a Prosecutor's Office and utilizes a team of attorneys who work hard to uphold the law and protect the citizens of Erie County and seek punishment for offenders of crimes.
In addition to felony adult and juvenile prosecution, the Erie County
Prosecuting Attorneys Office is charged with the prosecution of all
misdemeanor offenders appearing in Erie County Municipal Court located
in Milan, Ohio. This Court and presiding Judge C.J. Kamm has jurisdiction
over all those areas in Erie County not covered by one of the three
Municipal Courts in Erie County.
Another important component of the Criminal Division is the Victim Assistance Unit serving the victims of crimes committed by adults and juveniles.
