Intake Department
- Screen all delinquency and unruly complaints filed with the Court and refer to Judge/Magistrate for formal court action or Diversion/Mediation for inform action.
- Complete risk assessments on youth admitted to detention center who are not on probation.
- Emergency intervention appointments for youth charged with unruly or runaway charges Monday-Friday at 9am.
- Assist parents requesting help with an unruly child when charges have not yet been filed.
- Handle cases of youth referred for informal action through development of plan to address the charge, the behaviors that led to the charge and a plan to avoid further contact with Juvenile Court.
- Provide skill classes, Mediation and Family Group Conferencing for both youth referred by the Judge or Magistrate and youth whose cases are being handled informally.
- Referrals to other agencies for additional services not provided by the Court; for example mental health and drug/alcohol treatment.
- Work with local schools to address truancy and school behavior, including home visits, school visits, attendance at school meetings and other services to help identify and address barriers that prevent youth from attending school.
